LA Reflection

I really liked the personal narrative I wrote. My piece was called “The Great Football Game” and from the piece I was taught that you have to write it in a certain way. To be a successful narrative writer you need to follow guidelines for narrative writing or you will not have the best piece you can write.

Narrative writers know that they have to write a small seed story and not a giant watermelon topic. If this happens you probably will go off topic and have an unclear piece. When you write seed stores you are better off because you will have a lot of detail in a small story. An example of a seed story would be not writing all about fish; but write about one species of fish. That is one thing that narrative writers should know.

Another thing I learned while writing my narrative was that you have to have a good lead to pull the reader in and a conclusion to wrap things up. I was taught three types of leads. You can write a lead starting with the description of the character, the setting, or starting the lead with dialog. When you make a conclusion you have to wrap the story up so you don’t just drop the story with no ending.

I was taught to zoom in the story to show the most important parts. This is why we write a seed story because when narrative writers have to zoom in to get the most important parts.

In my piece I was proud of my editing. I did not get one error in it. I also thought that I did great on adding great details in all my paragraphs. If I had to improve something I would make my piece a little longer. Also I would make a better lead and conclusion, but I think overall I did great on my piece. So that was all about what you should know as a narrative writer and what I learned in Language-Arts 2010-2011.
